Clean Water. Changed Lives.
Christianity Today magazine, a leading publication with global reach, featured a Lifewater International photograph of children at a well in Cambodia in its February 2012 edition. The cover article is titled, “Cost-Effective Compassion: Economists rate the impact of 10 popular strategies for helping the poor.” The goal of the article, writes the author, is to determine the best ways to help the poor. “By ‘best,’” he writes, “I mean most effective, things that actually help people rise out of poverty, and that carry with them a sizeable ‘bang for your buck’—programs in which the impact on the poor is significant per donated dollar.”
Sixteen esteemed development economists weighed in on the study, rating ten strategies for helping the poor. Christianity Today reports that these top economists—many of them Christian—say, “Get clean water to rural villages” if you want to make a real difference. Lifewater International is listed as one of six organizations serving in this capacity.
The world is recognizing that providing safe water to those in need is the very best way to help alleviate poverty. Lifewater has acted on this knowledge for more than three decades. Through your generous giving, you too have made a difference in this very effective way.

"There is nothing more important to sustain life in our troubled world than water! Lifewater, a splendid evangelical organization dedicated to developing safe water for the rural poor in the developing world, is a ministry 'whose time has come.' I am happy to commend this program to the American public for its support. It is a needed and worthy enterprise." Ted W. Engstrom, President Emeritus, World Vision
"The importance of private voluntary organizations meeting the desperate need for clean accessible water cannot be overstated. Lifewater exemplifies how a relatively small investment can be put to maximum effect at the local level, saving many lives and altering dramatically the lives of thousands of people." Peter G. Bourne, M.D., former Chairman of the American Association for World Health and Assistant Secretary General to the United Nations
"No matter how much food and health care is given to aid the poor in developing countries, it is simply a band-aid if they still drink contaminated water. Their bodies reject life-giving nutrients when they are plagued by disease from dirty water. Lifewater offers continuing hope and health." Ted Yamamori, former President, Food for the Hungry
“As a supporter of Lifewater International’s programs for many years, I have been consistently impressed by the integrity, professionalism, and quality of work that characterize this organization. Particularly impressive is the fact that Lifewater requires communities to take ownership of the water and sanitation projects so that the impact is long-lasting.” Robert M. Benedict, President, Benedict Negotiating Seminars
