Josh Brown - Chair
Josh Brown has a tremendous heart to serve God in many areas through the leadership qualities that he has been given. He has served in the capacity of CEO, president, board chair, founder, and/or advisory council member for numerous organizations, including: American West Worldwide Express, Right-O-Way, Inc., JCB Trucking, Inc., JCB Development, West Bluff Estates, Jesus Film/Harvest Partners, Passage, Point Loma Nazarene University, Southern California District Church of the Nazarene, Civic Ballet of San Luis Obispo, Olive Crest Treatment Centers for Abused Children, Living Well Clinics and the Christian Executive Organization. Married with eight children and ten grandchildren, Josh is excited to share the hope of Jesus through Lifewater's ministry.
Lisa Wen – Vice Chair
Lisa Wen has worked in various positions from 1982 to 1994 in business development, marketing, sales, and strategic planning at Guidant Corporation (a subsidiary of Eli Lilly and Co.), Upjohn Pharmaceuticals, and Stanford University Hospital. In 1994, she co-founded Insight Healthcare Consulting, a management consulting firm in the San Francisco Bay Area. She received a B.A. from Stanford University in 1982 and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley in 1988. Currently, Lisa partners with Christian ministries serving in missions, evangelism, community transformation, and providing for disadvantaged children and the poor.
Tim Geisse - Secretary
Tim Geisse is an attorney in private practice in Cleveland, Ohio. Tim serves as the managing trustee of The John F. and Mary A. Geisse Foundation, a family foundation primarily focused on economic development in developing countries. Tim also serves as chair of the board of Rainbow Network, a Christian development ministry in rural Nicaragua; member of the board of governors of Opportunity International, a Christian microfinance organization; member of the president’s council of ACCION International, a microfinance organization; and member of the board of Deutsche Bank Global Consortium, a microfinance fund. Tim is active in an independent evangelical church, serving on the adult education team, teaching classes, and leading small groups. Tim holds an A.B. from Dartmouth College, a J.D. from CWRU School of Law, and an M.A. in biblical studies from Ashland Theological Seminary. He and his wife Jane have two children, Ali, age 25, and Elisabeth (“Boo”), age 21.
William Ashe - Founder
Bill Ashe has spent his career in the water industry. While serving as president of Shaw Pump & Supply in Irwindale, California, Bill founded and led Lifewater until 2002. Bill is passionate about serving the poor and disadvantaged around the world and has inspired countless people to join him. He and his wife have four grown children and live in Irvine, California.
Joe Harbison - CEO
With over thirty years of experience in international development, Joe looks forward to the opportunities to help people gain safe water. He says, “I learned early on that one of the best ways to assist rural communities with health and social issues is to secure a reliable water source.” Joe first worked in water development in rural Thailand, where he oversaw the establishment of a community water system. With extensive field experience, Joe has served in senior leadership positions with World Concern, Compassion International, and World Vision in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Jerusalem and Nairobi. He holds an MA in Cross Cultural Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, and is completing his Doctor of Ministry degree from the same institution. Joe and his wife Colleen have three children.
Rick Wolfe - Member
Rick Wolfe is the finance director for Transitions – Mental Health Association a not-for-profit agency in San Luis Obispo, California. He is committed to serving the poor of the world, and his involvement with Lifewater helps him focus on basic necessities for healthy living. Rick is also a volunteer at the California Men’s Colony where he meets with a group of inmates who are in the process of changing their lives. Rick, an avid athlete, runs and cycles as much as time will allow. He and his wife, Coleen, and two children, Jake and Megan, are active members at Mountainbrook Community Church.
Beverly Watson - Member
Beverly Watson is the President and CEO of Global Imprints LLC. Ms. Watson’s passion for connecting others to global issues in a problem solving manner is inspired by her own background of over 15 years working in a combination of fields, including international development, education, legal and business. Prior to founding Global Imprints, Ms. Watson was the Associate Country Director for Mozambique for the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), a United States corporation founded in 2004, whose mission is to reduce global poverty through the promotion of sustainable economic growth. Immediately prior to joining the MCC, Ms. Watson practiced project development and finance law at the prestigious multi-national law firm of Shearman & Sterling LLP (S&S) in NY. Ms. Watson also provided pro bono services to several international human rights organizations. Ms. Watson graduated with a B.S.F.S. from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and a J.D. from Stanford Law School.
Greg Hamer - Member
Greg Hamer has been active with Lifewater International for nearly 30 years. He is a consulting hydrogeologist and has worked on water problems and issues in numerous countries in Africa, Europe, and Asia. He has Bachelors and Master’s degrees in geology and hydro geology and holds licenses and certifications as a Professional Geologist and Hydro geologist in California. His involvement in the water industry has focused on the development of safe water supplies in rural and urban areas. Greg’s involvement with Lifewater is an opportunity to combine his career and technical skills with his desire to express his faith in practical ways. He attends Saddleback Church in southern California and helps lead a men’s ministry there.
David Weld - Member
A lifelong advocate and leader of outcome-based partnerships with the poor, David has held several positions since 2005 with the Millennium Challenge Corporation, an innovative U.S. foreign aid agency that helps fight poverty through sustainable economic growth. Previously, David led Habitat for Humanity programs in Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo and worked widely across Africa spreading Habitat’s core message of self help and Christian faith in action. He received an MPA from Princeton University, an MA from the University of Cape Town, and a BA from Middlebury College.
Gene Ashe - Member
Gene Ashe has been exposed to his father's vision for Lifewater from the very beginning. It has captivated his imagination. He is honored to serve on the Board to help bring Lifewater into the future. With his experience in pump manufacturing and management, Gene strives to bring excellence to the organization by researching and suggesting policy initiatives and processes that represent a hybrid of innovation and hard work - Board actions that will help Lifewater arrive at each vision horizon.
Jeff Bjorck - Member
Jeff Bjorck is a professor of psychology at Fuller Seminary's Graduate School of Psychology. He has served there on the faculty since 1990. He teaches in the doctoral program, conducts research which has been published in various scholarly journals, and is also a licensed psychologist in private practice. He received his B.A. in Psychology from Colgate University and his master's and Ph.D. from the University of Delaware. Jeff is also a pianist/composer, with five CDs produced thus far. He and his wife, Sharon, have been Lifewater supporters since the early 1990s, and Jeff began serving on Lifewater's Board in 2000. He has spoken about Lifewater at various churches and civic organizations, as well as on radio programs. Jeff as traveled on behalf of Lifewater to diverse locations around the globe, and these trips fuel his passion for promoting transformational development as a tangible means of sharing Christ's love.
Kyle Salyer - Member
Kyle currently serves as the Executive
VP, Finance and Operations with MicroCredit Enterprises (MCE), an innovative
social venture that leverages private guarantees to provide debt financing to
microfinance institutions worldwide. In his prior role with MCE, he
managed its loan portfolio during the initial three years of operations, issuing
47 investments in 15 countries for a total of $25 million. Formerly, Kyle
was Investment Manager with First Light Ventures, where he managed their
initial investments in India and the US. Kyle gained his initial
experience in the microfinance sector when he worked as Regional Manager with
AMEXTRA in Mexico, developing and managing the Chiapas branch of their
microfinance initiative. Kyle has a MBA from the University of
California, Davis and a BA from UCLA in International Economics and International
Development Studies. He is fluent in Spanish. Kyle and his family are members of Pacific Crossroads
Church in Santa Monica, CA where he leads a monthly outreach service at a local
homeless shelter.
