Missions & Community Development

Lifewater International seeks to share important experience and training with other
Christian organizations involved in international development. “Missions and Community
Development” introduces the participants to important community development principles from a holistic perspective emphasizing spiritual and physical transformation, capacity building, participatory learning, and community-led development. It offers biblical perspectives on development, explains disease transmission and blocking, and introduces key components of a community project cycle and participatory methodology. The participants learn the importance of working in partnership and addressing all areas of WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene). Practical solutions for blocking disease transmission are also demonstrated. The course is successful when participants recognize the efficacy of participatory approaches, value partnership and cultural sensitivity, and appreciate the Bible’s relevance to community development.

Missions & Community Development has been designed to help U.S. churches, mission organizations, and other like-minded groups build a holistic community development program. If your group can guarantee a minimum number of participants, Lifewater staff and experienced volunteer trainers will come to your location to conduct this class. Call the Lifewater office (888-543-3426) for details.
