Community Based Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene in Hosanna, Ethiopia

"It was like the land was groaning," says Patricia Klever, Lifewater's Director of Projects, after a recent visit to Ethiopia's drought-scarred countryside. Long cracks and eroded landscapes were a visible reminder of the need for water in the areas around the city of Hosanna.


Hygiene and Sanitation Promotion Through Soccer in Northern Uganda

In an effort to encourage health improvements in war-affected communities in northern Uganda, Lifewater and its partner have turned to Uganda's favorite pastime- soccer.

For many years the people of northern Uganda suffered from violent conflicts between the rebel group Lord's Resistance Army and government forces. Now communities are rebuilding, but decades of war have destroyed basic infrastructures, including access to safe water and adequate sanitation.

Supporting Business Development Through Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene in Laos

Laos is considered one of the world's least developed countries. Less than half of rural people have a sustainable supply of safe water, and just 20 percent have the dignity and privacy of a place to use the bathroom.
