NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION RECEIVES GRANT FOR WATER AND HYGIENE INTERVENTIONS IN MOZAMBIQUE
On November 26, 2007, Lifewater International received a $20,145 grant from the ERM Foundation to further its Water & Hygiene Interventions Project in Mozambique. This project will benefit approximately 34,000 people in 68 communities in southern Mozambique through a combination of newly-drilled wells, repair of existing wells, and community health through hygiene education.
Across Mozambique access to safe water is critically low—just 42 percent—while in some rural areas it is as low as 24 percent. Lifewater International will work with its Mozambican partner Agua Para Todos to provide safe water through cutting-edge training, cost-effective implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and provision of much-needed technical resources.
The ERM Foundation supports projects that improve the environment or quality of life for people around the world. It is led by ERM employees who give their own time and money to the projects it supports. The North American branch has raised over $1 million since its inception twelve years ago.
Lifewater International is a Christian development organization based in San Luis Obispo, California, whose mission is to provide safe water, sanitation, and hygiene education to communities around the world through training and partnerships with local organizations.
