WaterWalk
![]()
WaterWalk is designed to help people become more aware of the degree to which you rely on convenient access to safe water in your own life and to raise support for programs that help people around the world access, use, and maintain the safe water they need to live. WaterWalk can be done in many different ways; the important things are to encourage everyone to be mindful of those who lack safe water and to be thankful for their own circumstances.
WaterWalk Instructions:
- Decide who you want to be involved in the WaterWalk. You can do it on your own or enlist your roommates, class, church, youth group, team, family, neighbors, club, etc.
- Decide what you want your WaterWalk to look like. You can make it silly by asking people to carry buckets of water on their heads for a certain distance or more intense by asking people to carry heavier loads for longer distances. You can ask people to collect pledges before the event or charge an entry fee. Consider holding a water-awareness fair with displays and games at the end of the walk. Be creative and decide what works best for you and/or your group.
- Pick a date to hold the WaterWalk and begin advertising. Make, download, or order WaterWalk posters and signs (below) to help you with advertising. Take a look at the Materials Order Form for more resources to help you with the event (e.g., Lifewater bracelets, stickers, bookmarks, tshirts, etc.)
- Get participants to sign up, distribute pledge sheets (see below) and start collecting pledges or entry fees.
-
